CHECK IT OUT: 20 Lyrics That Feel Like Your 20s

24 May

I was at an interview the other day, talking about music – as you do – and the interviewer asked me why I liked music. It’s a difficult question that I’m sure we’ve all been asked – right up there with ‘what kind of music do you like?’ and ‘what are your favourite bands?’ It leaves you wondering where to start – I always want to specify in terms of lists, and get a bit High Fidelity about it.

The answer to the question of why I like music is one that changes frequently, but the answer I gave at the time was that there’s always something to identify with. It ranges from when you know exactly what you want to listen to, and turn up the volume on something like The Who’s ‘My Generation’, to when you hear a song and realise for the first time that this person knows exactly what you’re going through.

I’ve been thinking about it on and off since and, while I think that it’s an important quality in any part of your life, there is something about your 20s that leaves you seeking out this feeling in particular. So I’m adding to the multitude of already existing lists out there with my own – 20 lyrics that feel like your 20s. And don’t worry, it’s not just Taylor Swift.

From Kanye to John Mayer, OneRepublic to Jimmy Eat World – click here to check it out.

Do you have any further suggestions? What songs do you find yourself identifying with lately?

CHECK IT OUT: 10 Of The Best Cover Songs That You Should Be Listening To

2 Mar

If you haven’t heard it by now, then you should. Bruce Springsteen decided to cover Lorde’s hit song ‘Royals’ – while he was, of course, in New Zealand. The jury’s still out on whether or not it’s an improvement on the original – and the Boss even changed a few of the lyrics up – but don’t worry, because we’ve got 10 more cover songs that, if not improvements, are definitely close to it.

The art of the cover song is a tricky one. Artists never seem to know whether to go for a faithful reproduction of the original and do nothing new, or whether to try and put their own spin on it and run the risk of absolutely decimating it.

That said, here are some that we think you’ll enjoy.
